Upcoming Seminar: Planning for future care – What do I need to know?

Chapmans are delighted to have been invited by Brodies LLP, a leading Edinburgh Law Firm, to be a Guest Speaker at their upcoming Seminar – Planning for Future Care.

It is not unreasonable to suggest that the issue of care is the biggest time bomb for a generation and it is likely to affect us all – whether as a supporting relative, care for ourselves or for advising clients.  It is really important that people receive the correct specialist advice and help at what can be a very emotional and upsetting time.

Chapmans are well known in this area via their Later Years and Trusted Adviser Services and in fact their first ever client was an elderly lady moving out of her family home and into care.  Chapmans, applying their combination of compassion and professionalism were able to let the property for the client in a stress free manner. The rental proceeds not only help towards the cost of care but the family home has been safe guarded for the client’s children.

The case study at the Seminar will be based on a family whose parents are requiring to access care. It will consider how they can help their parents access these services (at home or in a residential setting), how their parents can arrange to pay for this care and what legal measures they need/should have had in place.

Speakers:

Susanne Beveridge, Partner, Personal & Family, Brodies LLP (Chairperson)

Karen Phillips, Associate, Personal & Family, Brodies LLP

Laura Chapman, Chapmans

Penny Wotherspoon, specialist in care financing, St James’ Place

Mairi Chrystal, CHSS Head of Stroke Nurse & Therapist Services
